Dearman was founded by Les Dearman in 1988 in Tucson, AZ as one of the first terminal automation software providers. As digital preset batch controllers and automated injection became more prevalent, automation software was needed to service the market.

Dearman historically focused on building deep relationships with select customers to not only implement their software but advise on how to further automate the bulk liquids terminal facility. While Dearman has expanded to a global company with many software products today, the intense focus on customers and their specific automation needs remains to this day.

Dearman’s software is currently deployed on refined products terminals (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, lubricants), bulk plants, crude oil terminals, gas gathering systems, fractionation plants (splitting y-grade/raw make), ethanol plants, chemical plants, natural gas liquids terminals (NGLs like propane and butane), and LNG terminals.

Terminal automation software serves as the system of record for a terminal, hosting all transactions, measurement, and inventory data for the system. A user of terminal automation software enters all their customer and authorized carrier information into the system, and the system automatically enforces this data during product loading and unloading. Terminal automation software allows for automated and manual loading transactions for truck, rail, pipeline, tank to tank, and marine movements, providing the bill of lading (BOL) for the transaction. The system can receive orders from an ERP or LYNX and send completed orders to any corporate system.

By working closely with customers like Bluewing Midstream, Dearman is able to continually add useful features to its Terminal Operating Platform. These features include driver dispatch technology for terminal truck traffic management, automated bay assignment, automated railcar spotting, fully configurable truck and railcar loading sequences and more. These operational efficiencies make a difference in the storage and pipeline marketplace, allowing companies on our Platform to outperform competitors with lower costs and better, flexible service.
